Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Vidyavan collects, why, and the rights you have over it, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Vidyavan is the data fiduciary for the data described here.

What we collect

Through the Enroll and Contact forms: the name, email address, phone number, and message or course preference you submit. Through the Jobs platform: your account email and password (stored securely as a hash, never readable by us), your candidate profile, skills and resume, or your company profile, hiring contact details and job postings, and the applications you make or receive. We also record when you agreed to this policy, and basic activity such as when you were last signed in and which companies viewed a candidate profile.

When you create an account we also keep, if you choose to tell us, how you heard about Vidyavan, and, if you first arrived through one of our campaign links (for example a link in an Instagram post), the name of that campaign. If you rate how easy it was to apply for a job, we keep that rating and any comment with your account. We use these only to understand which channels work and to improve the site.

How we use it

To respond to your enquiry and run the Jobs platform: companies see the profiles and resumes of candidates who apply to their jobs, and approved companies can find candidates through talent search; candidates see approved job postings. We use your email to send account messages, application updates and, if you leave them on, job alerts (you can change how often or turn them off on your profile). We do not sell your information or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Consent

When you create an account you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service, and we record the date you agreed. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (see below). Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew it.

Where it's stored and who processes it

Site data is stored with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, in their Mumbai (India) region. Emails are sent through our own mailbox hosted by Hostinger. Resumes are stored privately and are only accessible to you, to companies you apply to, and to Vidyavan staff who moderate the platform. Hiring contact details given by companies are visible only to that company and to Vidyavan staff.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are visited and how people find us), so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept all on the cookie banner, or switch Analytics on under Change preferences; if you leave it off, no analytics cookies are stored. We don't use advertising cookies, and Google's ad features are switched off. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Signing in uses essential storage in your browser to keep you logged in; this can't be switched off while you use your account.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists, so the platform can work for you. When you delete your account, your profile, resume details, applications, job postings and other linked records are removed immediately. Reports you filed about other accounts are kept for moderation, without your identity attached. Messages sent through the Contact or Enroll forms are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until you delete a Jobs account using the same email address. Routine backups held by our providers are overwritten on their normal cycle.

Your rights

• Access and copy: download a copy of your data at any time from your profile page (Your data → Download my data).
• Correction: update your profile, resume and details yourself, or ask us to correct anything you can't change.
• Erasure: delete your account and its data yourself from your profile page (Your data → Delete my account).
• Grievance redressal: raise a concern with our Grievance Officer (below).
• Nominate: you may nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity, by writing to our Grievance Officer.

If you aren't satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

We acknowledge grievances promptly and resolve them within the time required by law. Please write from the email address on your account, or tell us which account your request is about.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes we'll update the date above and let account holders know by email or on the site.
